Websites

Sarawak Tourist Guide

Useful information site for general background information "maintained" by the Sarawak Tourism Board. Includes culture and history as well as travel information.

Virtual Malaysia

Malaysia Tourism Portal, though a screaming site, it does make it easy to find the tourist attraction you are looking for.

All Malaysia Info

Explore and Know Malaysia - a site that caters to the international and regional tourist, giving information on the sites to visit and upcoming festivals of interest. It also gives background information on all the different States of Malaysia as well as some links to government agencies, schools and universities.

Malaysia's Expat Info Center

General Information centre for expats in Malaysia (mostly Peninsular Malaysia). This site links to expat resources and services related to embassies, international schools, banking, clubs etc.

Long Bedian

While trying to expand their business and get a grip on the local and international tourist market, local entrepreneurs are finding their way to the internet. This site shows you a way "off the beaten track", to the village of Long Bedian and the Kayan people.

Newspapers in Sarawak

The Star Online - The online version of one of Malaysia's daily English-language tabloids.

Sarawak Tribune - Online version of one of the daily English-language newspapers from Sarawak.

Internet Service
Providers in Sarawak

TMnet - Streamyx - currently the most popular broadband ISP in Sarawak.

Jaring - Malaysia's first and main gateway to Internet access. Until recently, the main internet provider in Malaysia. With the advent of broadband many people have recently switched to Streamyx.

Government Sites

Miri Council - a very basic site that's poorly maintained. However, if there is a major event coming up in Miri, you'll be able to find a programme of activities on or via this site.

Sarawak Online - towards a knowledge based Sarawak; is the subtitle of this government site that gives factual information on subjects that range from education to forestry. Not a fancy site but good if you are looking for basic facts from a source that you can quote.
